San Antonio Spurs forward Matt Bonner is averaging 50% from the three-point line this season and leads the NBA in three-point field-goal percentage yet he did not receive an invite from the NBA to participate in the 2011 NBA Three-Point Shootout at All-Star weekend in Los Angeles.
So what does Bonner have to say about this?
"Yeah it bothers me. Obviously that's kind of like my All-Star game. It's what I do. I shoot threes. It didn't happen again this year. I think I hurt my knee. I got a bone bruise and I missed three or four weeks. I guess that was cause enough for them (NBA) to keep me out again."
Those who will be invited are Ray Allen, Kevin Durant, Daniel Gibson, James Jones, Paul Pierce, and Dorell Wright.
Bonner's three-point shooting percentage is still better than each of the players invited. Just saying.
you aren't exciting enough matt. you need to go rape or kill someone, then the nba will notice you and let you play in the all-star game. shooting 50% from three point? nah that dont matter to them, they'r like, whats that got to do with anything
It's probably because he hasn't played enough minutes and/or hasn't shot enough of them to get the invite. I thought that maybe he should have gone over James Jones because they both play only 20 minutes a game but I saw Jones has taken 220 threes and Bonner only 133. I'm thinking Matt would probably not be shooting 50% if he shot them in higher volume like Jones.
The Red Rocket deserves to be in the 3-point shoout out but apparently the NBA knows better, stats don't matter.
Again no respect for the Spurs. Bonner is shooting well from the 3-point range and yet he never get an invite.
The NBA obvoiusly choose to pick the popular choice. Durant is not shooting well from behind the arc.
