Spurs waive Novak, reportedly to sign with Knicks
Written by Jeff Garcia on .
The San Antonio Spurs have announced they have waived forward Steve Novak after just four days after he was re-signed on December 15.
Against the Houston Rockets in preseason action, Novak scored two points, and grabbed two rebounds.
Last season with San Antonio, he averaged 4 points in 23 games.
However, according to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski, Novak is likely to sign with the New York Knicks for the season should he clear waivers.
Seriously was Steve Novak really what the spurs needed,No he wasn't they have enough shooters plus who was he going to defend what rebounds, block shots was he going to get. They need a real big I think people have a misconception of the game of basketball because of players like LBJ,D-WADE,KOBE,ANTHONY,DURANT these guards and small forwards make the game exciting because of their athleticism but it's still a big mans game you need bigs to win plain and simple.Name one team in the last 10-15yrs(you can say the last 20-30 for that matter) that didn't have a big man in the middle the Mavs are a perfect example Tyson Chandler won the championship for them not Dirk, Spurs need to focus on getting a big, is Kris Humpries still available?not saying he'll save them but he can bring some rebounding and toughness in the paint. I've been screaming this since last year and the year before that get some big fellas on the team A.S.A.P!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if not they will be in the same situation they were in last year getting put out the first round of the playoffs. Jeff, what is up with Ryan Richards and Nano De Colo are the spurs going to wait until their almost 30 before they come over, at least get them to the Toro's
Yes! Thank you. These players definitely need to be integrated soon. Toros season has already begun. I'm dying to see these guys against nba type players. Not to take anything away from the Euro leagues but let's face it it's a much physical quicker game out here. And it can only be beneficial to their development. Are these overseas players even allowed to play D-league ball with new league rules??
@totvilla13 spurs have always been good at scouting talent. As desperate as we were to ad players at the 3, and we didn't bring them over probably tells us that we don't think they are ready.
Spurs not signing Humphries might have something to with the heavy media attention he's getting. Too big of a distraction i think. Not sure i would want the guy. We must be pretty desperate to consider him.
i am not a humphries fan. He put up stats, but if you watch him play he is not that good. He put up numbers on a bad team in a lot of non competitive games. Look at his career stats. It just seems his number last year were inflated from his actual talent.
can somebody tell me who dunked on splittter in the open practice game i saw it at the end of the highlights on nba website i think it might be that frank hassel guy but i dont know what he looks like yet..as for novak im glad hes gone and ive said it before and i dont know if others would think the same but i think spurs should go after humpries i think he's game is similar to mcdyess' and could really fit with the system and also could probably start with his rebounding and outside shooting..thats just my opinion but
Went to the black and silver game. Leonard has some skills. As for the big men, I agree we do need help. But I believe we're gna make some noise that no one expects. I'm very excited for the season.
With a few mintes playing time, Steve Novak is waived. He is signing with the knicks. Good for him. What does the spurs want? Players who are 6'7" and below. Anderson, didn't play well, why not waive him? What about Green? What about the d-league players, didi they play accoding to expectations?
@rtesoro440 Had you actually watched the game and not just the stat sheet, you would have seen that Anderson actually played very well. Steve Novak is and was an abomination on defense. I will venture to say that he makes splitter look like Howard. Your argument makes little sense. While the spurs haven't done much this off season, your logic makes no sense and your posts both annoy and anger me. Actually go watch a spurs game.
