Spurs waive Butler

Da'Sean ButlerThe San Antonio Spurs have announced that they have waived forward Da'Sean Butler.

Butler was originally signed on March 25 before being assigned to the Spurs D-League affiliate Austin Toros, but did not see a minute of playing time for either club.

Butler was originally signed in a low-risk move that many saw as a potential steal for the future of the team.

In 2010, Butler led West Virginia into the Final Four before blowing out his ACL against Duke. With Butler being cleared to play just prior to his signing, there were plenty of question marks about his potential and if he could return to being the athletic slasher that nailed last-second shots for the Mountaineers throughout the tournament.

Project Spurs has kept up with Butler since the summer as he rehabbed and worked out tirelessly to get himself into shape for training camp, but it looks like his time in silver and black is done.

Butler will likely catch on in the D-League or overseas. Before the lockout ended, he had an agreement in place to play with VEF Riga of Latvia until the lockout was over.

Joe P is seriously considering retiring. Yi is staying in China and we don't want anything to do with him. Fesenko is our best option. I am suprised Project Spurs has not reported on Neal's surgery

i dunno if anyone would want kris humphries but hes unrestricted and averages 10 boards and one block and shot 52% for 10 points a game he only made 3.2m last year so they might be able to sign him with mcdyess' contract aloneif he retires..he is only 6-9 as well though but most of the free agents this year are undersized..could be a good signing

well, Parker said during his interview today at training camp that Anderson has been doing great so far, as well as Leonard. Green must be doing ok, or Butler hasn't been doing so well, so either way, i figured one of these guys would get waived. good luck, Butler!

What about Yi jianlian? Maybe a stretch but seems to have untapped potential.

The spurs are too slow, Mcroberts was signed by the lakers. Are the spurs serious in finding a big man or not? The waiving of Butler reduced the number of sf or giving way for an outsider like j. Howard. But they need a big man to man the interior and releve TD. NOw the remaining pf/c are Fesenko, Landry and Clark. Is the spurs digning somebody?
