Splitter gets in one more game with Valencia

Written by Jeff Garcia on .

Seems San Antonio Spurs' Tiago Splitter was able to squeeze in one more game with Spanish team Valencia Basket before returning to the Spurs this week despite recently saying he was through playing with Valencia.

In his last hurrah with Valencia, Splitter notched 18 points, shot 7-14 from the field, 4-6 from the free-throw line, grabbed 8 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal in 29 minutes in a 83-59 win over Lukoil Academic Sofia at the 2011 Eurocup.

Before the game, Valencia honored Splitter by introducing him last in player introductions to a hail of applause and was presented a team jersey with all the players and front office personnel signatures.

I am sure I speak for all Spurs fans when I say Splitter should really get on the next flight out of Spain to the U.S. to make it on time for Spurs' training camp.

There is nothing really to be excited about. Some of you might look at his stats and say 'Wow, Splitter looks like a real threat now!' However, he already was when he came to the Spurs last year after winning MVP in Spanish League. I mean, the main reason he can put this kind of stats is that he plays enough minutes on the court ! The key will still be Pop, not Splitter.

@shawnthefreak Splitter was never going to "wow" anyone with stats. He is a better version of Oberto. At least that's what i think he can become

Mr. splitter must have improved his game. The spurs still need help in the interior. C.Landry, K.Fesenko, J.Mcroberts, K. Kaman and E.Clark are all available.
