Latvia defeats Great Britain in final tune-up

DBIn what was to be their final tune-up game before the FIBA EuroBasket kicks off next week, San Antonio Spurs' draftees Ryan Richards and Davis Bertans went head to head on Saturday as Latvia defeated Great Britain 74-51 (H/T Hoopsfix).

Though both Richards and Bertans aren't players who get regular minutes with their clubs, they still got some small amount of playing time in Saturday's exhibition game. Bertans scored three points, grabbed one rebound, had one assist, and two fouls in seven minutes of action. Richards finished with one point, three rebounds, two assists, and two fouls in 14 minutes of playing time.

As both clubs get ready to head to Lithuania for the EuroBasket, Bertans will see a familiar Spurs face in his teams' first matchup. Bertans and Latvia will face Tony Parker and France on Wednesday. Richards and Great Britain will face Lithuania.

Another player whom the Spurs hold his draft rights, Erazem Lorbek of Slovenia, will face Bulgaria in the opening game of the EuroBasket on Wednesday.

Both Bertans and Richards could be part of the future face of the spurs. Both are young and could make strides towards making the team. Hope they don't suffer the fate of other "stashed" rookies.
