Writer's Sound Off: The First Seed

Written by Michael A. De Leon on .

Last week we introduced our new feature, "Writers Sound Off." Our writers are now back at it again.

Each week, our writers will sound off on one topic of the week with short audio takes. If you are a Spurscast subscriber, you'll also be seeing podcasts with all of our takes together along with your weekly Spurscast.

Our topic this week was can the San Antonio Spurs make a late playoff run without the first seed. Listen below and then find out how to join in on the fun.

While securing homecourt advantage is nice, I don't think the Spurs really needs it. They are a veteran team and knows how to win on the road. For me health is more important than the top seed.

@JeffProjectSpurs I believe the Spurs needs to win 2 more games to secure top seed in the West.

@JeffProjectSpurs @DennisM I keep telling him he needs to record one since this topic is different from the one we discuss on the podcast. Maybe he just doesn't want to destroy us all.

@DennisM Well the idea was for the writers to have their say since Mike and myself have the Spurscast. This is mainly for the writers who can't be on the Spurscast. So this is their time to shine.

@JeffProjectSpurs No doubt about it! So what's your take on the Spurs getting top seed? I noticed you don't participate. Why?

@JeffProjectSpurs Well not quite yet but if the Spurs wins tonight against the Kings it will put a lot of pressure on Kobe and co.

It will be a huge let down if the Spurs lose the top seed overall so I think they have to have homecourt advantage all throughout the season to have a deep playoff run.

I'm enjoying this new weekly post! IMO the Spurs need the top seed in the West to win it all.
